A Room Without Walls

‘A Room without Walls’ uses headphones to transport children between the ages of 8 and 12 on a remarkable journey. Their guides are children from the cities of Frankfurt, Sao Paulo, Beirut and La Union in the Philippines. Without ever meeting in person, they have embarked on a joint investigation to find out how we can come together regardless of national borders. Now they invite other children to join them again on this exciting journey to the places where the piece was created, where they live and to routes that can only be found by those who are willing to follow what they can hear. Leading to the room without walls that can be entered from everywhere. It offers an opportunity to listen to each other, learn from one another and to move with each other.
For the children from four different time zones, the guiding question was what a shared future might look like in a world whose problems can only be solved collectively. Accompanied by a team of international choreographers, they used voice messages, sound recordings and their own experiments in choreography to look for answers and to design this imaginary special place between continents.

A Room without Walls is a project by Künstler*innenhaus Mousonturm as part of the Tanzplattform Rhein-Main, in cooperation with Zentrum Zeitgenössischer Tanz – ZZT Köln and the Institute for Theatre, Film and Media Studies at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, in co-production with Goethe-Institut Philippinen, Zürcher Theaterspektakel and Detmold – Kulturstadt im Teutoburger Wald.
