INITIATIVE TANZ relies on the federal government as a reliable partner for preserving Germany’s internationally renowned dance scene.

INITIATIVE TANZ, an association comprising Dachverband Tanz Deutschland, explore dance – Netzwerk Tanz für junges Publikum, NATIONALESPERFORMANCE NETZ and Bureau Ritter, stands for cooperative dance promotion.
Together with the federal government, the states and local authorities, the initiative has laid the foundation for the systematisation of dance promotion within the framework of a cooperative match-funding model.
It connects artists with venues, co-producers, co-funders and audiences. In this way, funding can have a lasting effect and ensure the excellence of the German dance landscape – in cities, in rural areas, in European collaborations and in international cultural exchange.
In the current difficult situation, local and state governments are sticking to their co-funding commitments – but they still need the federal government as a reliable cooperation partner.

On 13 November 2025, the Bundestag will decide on the urgently needed funds in the 2026 federal budget.
