Strengthen dance as the foundation of our cultural future – together with the federal states and local authorities!
Dance is a central force in our culture. It connects people across linguistic and social boundaries, creates community, enables participation and has a far-reaching impact on society.

Local politicians have recognised the strength of dance and its enormous artistic and social potential. That is why the federal states and local authorities have pledged around €13 million as part of the INITIATIVE TANZ.
Now, funding bodies and the dance scene alike expect the federal government to provide substantial funding as well. Only in this way can artistic excellence in dance, cultural participation and social cohesion develop sustainably.

We appeal to federal politicians: strengthen dance – with federal funding that matches the strong commitment of the federal states and local authorities!
Local authorities and federal states are committed! Nationwide programmes such as TANZPAKT Stadt-Land-Bund, the NATIONALE PERFORMANCE NETZ
and explore dance – Netzwerk Tanz für junges Publikum have shown that effective federal funding creates sustainable structures.

Local and state authorities make a significant contribution in this regard: around £13 million is invested in the funding priorities of INITIATIVE TANZ – while the federal government has so far only contributed £1.9 million.

Our appeal

We call on the federal government to resolutely take up the initiative of the states and municipalities:

1. Strengthen the promotion of dance – on an equal footing with the states and municipalities, in a sustainable, reliable and structural manner.

2. Ensure clear and legally viable framework conditions for dance professionals and educational institutions.

3. Expand nationwide programmes – for a cooperative and sustainable cultural policy.

Dance is at the heart of our culture. Let us give it the financial and political support it needs – and that our society deserves.
