Hermann Heisig
Hermann Heisig lives and works as choreographer, dancer and performer in Berlin. He was born in 1981 in Leipzig, where he became interested in contemporary dance in the late 1990s and performed numerous self-taught solo performances in galleries and clubs. After training in Berlin and Montpellier, he worked as a dancer and performer for Martine Pisani, Meg Stuart/Damaged Goods, Pieter Ampe, Thomas Lehmen, Begum Erciyas, Julian Weber and Corinna Harfouch, among others. Hermann’s own works deal with the frictional effects that bodies produce within themselves, with each other and with their environment. They resist efficiency and celebrate an aesthetic of the do-it-yourself, involuntariness as a motor, the monstrous, the living, the mechanical.
